- Interventional Chronic Pain, University of Colorado in Denver
Dr. McLaughlin is board certified in anesthesiology and fellowship trained in pain management and she completed her fellowship in interventional chronic pain at the University of Colorado in Denver.
Dr. McLaughlin has a particular interest in cancer pain management. Caring for cancer patients and appreciating the courage and fortitude these patients and their families demonstrate helps Dr. McLaughlin to focus on her practice in these special circumstances. Pain associated with the diagnosis of cancer is particularly stressful for patients and Dr. McLaughlin feels it is very important that we accept the patient's description of their pain, fatigue, and distress as the immediate focus of the care we plan to deliver. Dr. McLaughlin believes that interventional treatment options, from medication management and minimally invasive procedures to physical and cognitive behavior therapies, may reduce or eliminate the need to take oral medications that have significant side-effect profiles.
In addition to specializing in cancer pain management, Dr. McLaughlin has particular interest in incorporating osteopathic diagnoses and treatments when she sees patients. Dr. McLaughlin enjoys treating a variety of pain symptoms including sports related injuries, chronic injuries, neuropathy, and complex regional pain syndrome.
Outside of work, Dr. McLaughlin enjoys spending time with her large family and hosting family dinners. Dr. McLaughlin and her husband enjoy their weekends in the mountains either skiing, trail running, or fly fishing.
Bringing Dr. McLaughlin’s passion and expertise in cancer care and treating cancer pain will be a tremendous value for our patient care at Colorado Clinic.
