Dr. Ajay Vellore, M.D., M.S., is double board certified in both Anesthesiology
and Pain Medicine. Dr. Vellore was fellowship trained in Pain Medicine
right here at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Prior to
that, Dr. Vellore received his Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology
at the University of Maryland, and then attended Georgetown University,
where he completed his Master of Science degree in Physiology and Biophysics.
Dr. Vellore then attended medical school at Eastern Virginia Medical School,
where he successfully completed his Doctor of Medicine degree. After that,
Dr. Vellore then went on to Anesthesiology residency at the Mayo Clinic,
where he served as the chief resident in his last year.
Dr. Vellore's curiosity in chronic pain was first piqued in residency,
where he gained valuable experience with difficult-to-treat conditions,
with patients traveling from all over the world to seek care at the Mayo
Clinic. It was there that Dr. Vellore also learned a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary
approach to treating pain, understanding not only the physical strain
that chronic pain can cause, but also the emotional, social, and psychological
aspects of pain as well.
Dr. Vellore’s treatment interests include spinal stenosis, complex
regional pain syndrome, neuropathy, and back/leg pain after surgery.
For spinal stenosis, Dr. Vellore specializes in a minimally invasive procedure
called Vertiflex Superion. If you are suffering from pain related to lumbar
spinal stenosis and have not felt relief using traditional treatments,
come speak with Dr. Vellore and see if Vertiflex Superion is the answer.
Dr. Ajay Vellore works out of our Centennial and Thornton Colorado locations.
Outside of work, Dr. Vellore enjoys snowboarding, golfing, hiking, and
playing soccer. When he’s not at the clinic Dr. Vellore is spending
time with his wife, his son, and his dog.
