Dr. Ajay R. Vellore, M.D., M.S., is double board certified in both Anesthesiology
and Pain Medicine, and was fellowship trained in Pain Medicine right here
at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Prior to that, he received
his Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology at the University of Maryland,
and then attended Georgetown University, where he completed his Master
of Science degree in Physiology and Biophysics. He then attended medical
school at Eastern Virginia Medical School, where he successfully completed
his Doctor of Medicine degree, and then went on to Anesthesiology residency
at the Mayo Clinic, where he served as the chief resident in his last year.
Dr. Vellore's curiosity in chronic pain was first piqued in residency,
where he gained valuable experience with difficult-to-treat conditions,
with patients traveling from all over the world to seek care at the Mayo
Clinic. It was there that he also learned a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary
approach to treating pain, understanding not only the physical strain
that chronic pain can cause, but also the emotional, social, and physiological
aspects of pain as well.
His treatment interests include spinal stenosis, complex regional pain
syndrome, neuropathy, and back/leg pain after surgery.
Outside of work, Dr. Vellore enjoys snowboarding, golfing, hiking, playing
soccer, and spending time with his wife, son, and dog.
